On stone engraved Basmala – also known by its incipit Bismillāh, is the Islamic phrase bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful”. This is the phrase recited before each sura of the Qur’an – except for the ninth with traditional hand craft engraved technique.
