Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum (يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ)
“Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum” means:
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all existence.”
It combines two of Allah’s most powerful Names:
Al-Hayy – The One who is eternally alive and never dies.
Al-Qayyum – The One who upholds and maintains all that exists.
These Names appear in Ayat al-Kursi (Qur’an 2:255) and were frequently used by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his personal prayers.
The phrase is often invoked in:
Times of distress or weakness
Seeking mercy and stability
Duas asking for strength, clarity, and divine help
A common supplication is:
“Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, birahmatika astaghith.”
“O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, I seek help through Your mercy.”
It is a deeply spiritual invocation reminding the soul that true life, support, and solution come only from Allah.
